There is a requirement that, as part of a child's evidence to be used in criminal or family proceedings, their understanding of the difference between truth and lies needs to be demonstrated. Triangle, a company based near Brighton in East Sussex, have recently launched a new smart phone app and DVD to facilitate the assessment of this understanding. They have put together 20 film clips (each 10-20 seconds long) showing real children acting out simple scenarios. In use, the child witness is invited to watch one of these clips (previously chosen by the interviewer at the interview planning stage) and is then asked the simple question 'Did he/she tell the truth or a lie?'
